Job Description

As a Staff Software Engineer, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving the full software development lifecycle from coding to deployment and maintenance. You will apply cloud-native architecture principles and integrate AI/ML components to enhance system resilience and agility. This role requires technical leadership, mentoring, and collaboration across teams to ensure high-quality solutions aligned with business objectives. You will leverage data-driven practices to optimize processes and continuously improve engineering excellence while fostering innovation and maintaining strong stakeholder engagement.

The International Recommendations Platform team develops a multi-tenant framework delivering personalized experiences across Walmart International sites, including Mexico and Canada. The team focuses on innovation in Machine Learning and AI to enhance customer engagement and drive key business metrics. Members apply cloud-native architecture principles and software design patterns to build scalable, resilient solutions. They collaborate closely to design APIs, conduct system reviews, and implement data-driven decisions. The team embraces continuous improvement, leveraging DevOps engineering and software prototyping to accelerate delivery and maintain high-quality standards in a dynamic environment.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
  • Strong proficiency in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
  • Experience driving full software development lifecycle activities, including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
  • Ability to integrate AI/ML components and develop intelligent automation using languages such as JavaScript, Python, Java, or C++.
  • Demonstrated technical leadership with mentorship skills and sound technical judgment for architectural decisions.
  • Data-driven decision-making skills to define metrics and optimize engineering processes.
  • Effective collaboration and communication across technical and business stakeholders.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area
  • Knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
