Job Description

This role focuses on owning scoped feature or model delivery through collaborative engineering teams, managing implementation, iteration, testing, and ongoing support for assigned services, APIs, user interfaces, or ML model components. The engineer will operate with a product-driven mindset, aligning outcomes with broader platform, system, and domain objectives. Key responsibilities include writing clean, efficient, and reliable code in various languages, driving the full software development lifecycle (CI/CD, automated testing, observability, monitoring, maintenance), and building automation scripts. The role also involves integrating AI agents and ML components, leveraging GenAI tools like GitHub Copilot, and applying object-oriented programming principles. Additionally, the engineer will assist in converting high-level designs into detailed designs, evaluating trade-offs for scalable and secure systems, participating in design reviews, and demonstrating continuous learning through mentorship and knowledge sharing. Stakeholder engagement to define and refine business problems, translate pain points into technical requirements, and define success metrics are also crucial. The role requires conducting complex maintenance, monitoring application performance, ensuring adherence to project milestones, and promoting a collaborative engineering mindset focused on continuous improvement and team wellbeing. Technical ownership, sound judgment, adaptability to change, and effective collaboration across teams are essential. The position also involves coordinating and overseeing job-related activities, developing stakeholder relationships, supporting plans and initiatives, identifying and communicating goals, building accountability, measuring progress, identifying improvement opportunities, and demonstrating adaptability. Providing supervision and development opportunities for associates through hiring, training, mentoring, assigning duties, and promoting a sense of belonging is also part of the role. Ensuring compliance with company policies and supporting the company mission, values, and standards of ethics and integrity is expected. The role emphasizes software development, DevOps, and solution design, with a strong focus on respecting individuals by building high-performing teams, embracing diversity, and creating an inclusive workplace where all associates feel seen, supported, and connected. Talent development through feedback, coaching, and mentoring, empowering associates, and recognizing contributions are key aspects. Building strong, trusting relationships, working collaboratively, and communicating effectively are also vital. Acting with integrity by maintaining high ethical standards, modeling Walmart values, and supporting the company's goal of becoming a regenerative company is paramount. This includes following laws, codes of conduct, and policies, promoting an environment where concerns can be shared, and holding oneself and others accountable. The role requires acting as an altruistic servant leader, being humble, self-aware, honest, and transparent. Serving customers and members by delivering expected business results, putting the customer first, and applying an omni-merchant and Every Day Low-Cost mindset is essential. Adopting a holistic perspective considering data, analytics, customer insights, and different business parts when making plans and shaping team strategy is required. Striving for excellence by consistently raising the bar, seeking improvement, demonstrating curiosity, fostering a growth mindset, seeking feedback, and encouraging learning, innovation, and intelligent risk-taking is expected. This includes seeking and implementing continuous improvements and encouraging the team to leverage new digital tools and ways of working.
