Job Description

7-Eleven is looking for a Software Engineer to join a team of multidisciplinary engineers who create and support applications for 7-Eleven customers. The individual can be assigned project work, Production Support responsibilities and performing duties such as patching servers to address vulnerability risks and threats to our software and systems. This role will cover multiple disciplinary duties and require flexibility with changing priorities of work, based on company needs. This role is key in maintaining the stability and performance of applications, while also leveraging backend development skills to enhance and optimize these systems. The engineer will collaborate closely with backend development teams to diagnose and address application defects and performance bottlenecks, monitor application health, performance, and availability, taking proactive measures to ensure optimal operation, and document support procedures, best practices, and incident resolutions. The role also involves installing application certificates on servers and installing patches to address critical vulnerabilities.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelors/4 Yr Degree
  • 4+ years of relevant work experience
  • Ability to multitask working multiple issues at one time.
  • Desired 2-4 years of hands-on programming / Scripting experience
  • Familiar with AI development tools
  • Familiarity with APIs / Server-side development experience using microservices architecture
  • Strong experience in supporting applications in a production environment.
  • Exposure to any scripting language for automation and support tasks
  • Solid understanding of application servers, databases, and backend technologies
  • Knowledge of incident management, problem resolution, and ITIL processes is a plus.
  • Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools such as New Relic, Splunk, Nagios, or ELK
  • Exceptional troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Willingness to participate in an On-Call rotation.
  • Experience with containerization technologies like Docker and Kubernetes
  • Familiarity with cloud platforms AWS and Azure
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines
  • Experience in developing NoSQL and SQL databases, designing data models, proficient in querying data for quality, analysis, analytics, and ad hoc reporting is preferred.
  • Knowledge in API security frameworks, token management and user access control including OAuth, JWT, Open API, etc.
  • Ability to work in an Agile / SCRUM environment.
