Key Highlights
- Take end-to-end ownership of the backend platform, managing client-facing API schemas, servers, and database infrastructure in AWS.
- Integrate AI-powered solutions directly into core products while building and refining the agent workflows, context, and tooling that enable effective team development with AI across a large codebase.
- Contribute to architectural and design decisions, articulating trade-offs and breaking down complex features into releasable components.
- Design and implement core products within a PHP and Laravel API, building from OpenAPI specifications using domain-driven, service, and repository architectures.
- Build and enhance internal backend systems in Python, including AWS Lambda microservices, in collaboration with cross-functional business units.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience building, operating, and scaling backend systems in production environments.
- Deep proficiency in PHP (ideally Laravel) along with working proficiency in Python.
- Mandatory AI Tooling: Hands-on experience developing features and building context workflows using AI coding agents (Claude Code, Cursor, Codex, or similar).

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience integrating LLMs into production software, including prompt design, evaluation strategies, and handling non-deterministic outputs safely.
- Familiarity with secrets management tools such as AWS Parameter Store or HashiCorp Vault.
- Experience using large-scale static analysis and automated refactoring tools like PHPStan or Rector.
- Proficiency deploying and maintaining infrastructure using Terraform, Docker, and GitLab CI/CD pipelines.
- Strong knowledge of relational database design, query tuning, and caching platforms, specifically MySQL and Redis.
- Background in roduction incident management, monitoring, and backend secure design principles.
