Job Description

Leidos is seeking a Software Engineer to join their team in Oklahoma City, OK, to support the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) on the NISC IV program. This role involves handling multiple mission-critical IT projects, from new development to sustainment, and requires hands-on experience with large, complex IT projects to ensure quality outcomes. The position is responsible for architecting IT solutions, including complex systems for the federal government. The ideal candidate will have experience designing and implementing .NET, Model View Controller (MVC) framework, and Oracle/MSSQL solutions. Responsibilities include technical planning, ROM estimates, context and concept diagrams, risk analysis, requirements and functional analysis, trade studies, requirements allocation, interface definition, technical management, integration, system testing, and quality assurance. The role also involves architecting technical refreshes and converting legacy systems into web-based and cloud-based enterprise applications using load balancing technologies.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems or similar area and 2 to 4 years of relevant experience. Additional years of experience will be considered in lieu of a degree.
  • Experience with MVC, C#.NET, ASP.NET, ADO.NET, Web Services, XHTML and CSS.
  • Experience with Visual Studio C++ (VSC++), C++/17 and higher standards.
  • Experience with developing native Windows desktop applications and cross-platform development using Swift for iOS/iPadOS development.
  • Hands-on expertise with 2D graphics development and legacy rendering APIs, like GDI and GDI+.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with unit testing and test automation using frameworks like GoogleTest.
  • Practical experience leveraging AI-assisted development tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Claude, Gemini) throughout the SDLC.
  • Experience designing/implementing extensible/maintainable object-oriented architectures.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be eligible to work in the U.S. and pass FAA security screening for positions of public trust.
  • Ability to obtain a clearance (i.e., Public Trust) is required if hired.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Familiarity with the Federal Government work environment.
  • Familiarity with FAA configuration management and transitioning systems to operations including change control board, Application Data Center (ADC), Enterprise Data Center (EDC) and MKS tickets.
  • Experience with the FAA IT security compliance process.
  • Familiarity with 3D graphics engines like Unreal Engine 5 (UE5), socket programming, XML/JSON, and real-time audio software development.
  • Demonstrated 3D modeling and texturing skills using industry-standard tools (e.g., Blender, Autodesk Maya).
