Job Description

Key Highlights
- Overseeing the consolidation and analysis of information and evidence gathered by IAPB’s partners and the secretariat team;
- Strategic planning as well as overseeing the IAPB’s analytical work to support criminal justice authorities and other accountability bodies, in close coordination with the Senior Legal Consultant;
- Drafting, reviewing and editing of analytical briefs and legal memos for submission to criminal justice authorities and other accountability bodies;
- Supervising and coordinating the work conducted by analysts and consultants, including setting priorities/tasks and ensuring high standards of work, in close coordination with the Legal Advisor.
- Cooperating with prosecution authorities and international mechanisms.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years of demonstrated practical professional experience in the documentation of violations of international law, preferably in the context of international criminal law. This experience should include substantial hands-on investigative or documentation work and not be primarily academic in nature.
- A minimum of 5 years analytical and investigative experience in relation to violations of international criminal law, in particular crimes against humanity, including the assessment and analysis of relevant facts, evidence, and applicable legal frameworks.
- Demonstrated legal drafting skills, including experience in conceptualising, structuring and drafting of submissions to national and international human rights and accountability bodies.
- Demonstrated experience coordinating and overseeing the work of a team of analysts, including allocating and reviewing work and providing substantive guidance to members of the IAPB team in a remote working environment.
- Experience with universal and extra-territorial jurisdiction cases.
- Demonstrated experience liaising with criminal justice stakeholders, including national and/or international accountability bodies.
- Experience representing an organisation at external events, including conferences or other forums, with the confidence to speak to a range of audiences.
- Excellent command of written and spoken English.
- Fluency in Russian and/or Belarusian will be given particular weight in the selection process.
- Direct experience interviewing survivors and witnesses is desirable.
