Job Description
Vega Federal is seeking a mid-level Software Engineer with 4+ years of professional experience to join our backend engineering team in Richardson, TX. This role focuses on backend software development, complex system integrations, and enterprise API management using Broadcom Layer 7 API Gateways. You will work within an Agile, multi-disciplinary environment to build, secure, and maintain high-performance Java architectures, network security protocols, and API solutions supporting critical federal operations.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 4+ years of professional software engineering experience centered on Java development, network programming, and Linux environments.
- Direct, hands-on experience configuring, integrating, and maintaining Broadcom Layer 7 API Gateways.
- Active Top Secret (TS) Clearance required prior to start date (U.S. Citizenship required).
- Active CompTIA Security+ certification.
- Strong command of Java, Linux scripting (Bash/Shell), and fundamental network security principles.
- Ability to work 100% on-site in Richardson, TX (or open to paid relocation).
- Strong written and oral communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
Preferred Qualifications
- In-depth knowledge of identity/authentication standards (OAuth2, SAML, JWT), digital certificates, and secure routing protocols.
- Python scripting capabilities and Linux system administration background.
- Familiarity with AWS cloud architecture, containerization (Docker), and orchestration (Kubernetes).
- Hands-on experience working within DevSecOps frameworks and Agile/Scrum delivery pipelines.
