Job Description
As a Staff Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design and delivery of scalable platform capabilities, driving full lifecycle software development with a focus on cloud-native architecture and AI/ML integration. You will influence technical decisions, mentor engineering teams, and collaborate across functions to translate complex business needs into actionable solutions. Our team develops advanced advertising solutions that enable advertisers to plan, manage, and optimize campaigns effectively. We specialize in Media Planning and Order Management, delivering intelligent products that simplify complex workflows and enhance decision-making throughout the campaign lifecycle. By integrating Agentic AI, we transform media budget planning with AI-driven assistance and budget recommendations. Our focus is on reducing operational complexity, improving planning efficiency, and empowering advertisers to make data-driven decisions that maximize campaign outcomes and business results.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Proven expertise in cloud-native architecture, including microservices, containers, and automation to ensure scalable and resilient systems.
- Strong experience in software design patterns, API design, and software prototyping to deliver maintainable and modular solutions.
- Proficiency in programming languages such as JavaScript, TypeScript, Python, Java, Rust, Dart, or C++.
- Demonstrated ability to lead full software development lifecycle activities including coding, testing, CI/CD deployment, and observability.
- Skilled in data-driven decision making to define success metrics and optimize engineering processes.
- Experience mentoring engineers and influencing architectural and technical decisions for long-term sustainability.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and communicate complex technical concepts clearly.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 2 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
