Job Description
We're looking for a senior software engineer to own the design and delivery of our API integration platform. This is the layer that connects Handtevy to other medical systems, including ePCR, EHR, narcotic and blood tracking systems, and more. You'll be the technical lead on how third-party systems authenticate, consume, and rely on our APIs, with real ownership in architecture decisions as well as implementation. This is critical work with real impact!
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of backend software engineering experience, including meaningful work on API platforms or system integrations
- Strong hands-on expertise with Node.js and NestJS (or comparable backend frameworks) and TypeScript
- Deep working knowledge of OAuth 2.0, JWT, SSO/SAML, and API security best practices
- Production experience with relational databases (MySQL/Aurora preferred) and NoSQL stores (MongoDB, DocumentDB, etc.)
- Comfort with Docker, CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or similar), and AWS services (Lambda, API Gateway, SQS/SNS/EventBridge, CloudWatch)
- Real AI-augmented engineering practices
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent hands-on experience
Preferred Qualifications
- Healthcare interoperability experience (HL7, FHIR, NEMSIS, etc.), and/or work with EHR/ePCR platforms
- Healthcare, EMS, or other regulated-industry background
- Familiarity with PHP and Laravel
- Event-driven architecture experience: Kafka, Kinesis, EventBridge, or similar
- Observability platforms: Datadog, New Relic, or similar
