Key Highlights

  • Manage the radiation safety program. This includes development, maintenance, and application of test facility requirements and personnel training.
  • Effectively communicate with program office representatives, system designers, and other radiation experts to ensure that radiation-related concerns are adequately addressed.
  • Interface effectively with internal and external customers across all technical disciplines in a team environment.
  • Coordinate with peer facilities such as Brookhaven National Labs, Texas A & M, and Boeing Radiation Effects Lab.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering, Engineering Technology (including Manufacturing Technology), Computer Science, Data Science, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry or non-US equivalent qualifications directly related to the work statement
  • Level 3: Typically, 5 or more years related work experience
  • Level 4: Typically, 9 or more years related work experience
  • Experience with radiation environments or radiation effects.
  • Availability to work a flexible schedule and support phone calls outside of normal working hours.
  • An active U.S. Secret Security Clearance
  • Prior experience as RSO
  • Completed the training and education requirements outlined by U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) regulation 10 CFR 35.50.  Option 1: Hold a bachelor’s or graduate degree in physical science, engineering, or biological science with at least 20 college credits in physical science; have at least five (5) years of professional experience in health physics (graduate training can substitute for up to two (2) years); pass an examination covering radioactivity, radiation biology, and radiation dosimetry.Option 2: Hold a master’s or doctor’s degree in physics, medical physics, or another physical science, engineering or applied mathematics; have two (2) years full-time practical training and/or supervised experience in medical physics; pass an examination that assesses knowledge in clinical diagnostic radiological or nuclear medicine physics and radiation safety.

  • Proven track record of compliance with safety and security standards.
  • Experience with operation of electrical test equipment such as digitizing oscilloscope, spectrum analyzer, network analyzer, signal generator, and multimeter.
