As a Distinguished Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native AI-powered systems, translating strategic objectives into robust technical solutions. The team leads Applied Science initiatives for Last Mile Delivery at Walmart, focusing on optimizing routing, trip pricing, driver trip matching, delivery commitments, and capacity management. Leveraging advanced data strategies and machine learning techniques, they ensure platform reliability and safety. Collaborating closely with stakeholders, the team develops innovative, scalable solutions that enhance operational efficiency and customer satisfaction. Their expertise in predictive analytics, data strategy, and machine learning drives data-driven outcomes that support Walmart’s commitment to dependable and efficient last mile delivery services.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Extensive experience in designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native software systems with AI and machine learning integration.
  • Proven ability to lead system-level technical execution, ensuring architectural integrity and operational excellence.
  • Strong expertise in machine learning model monitoring, evaluation, and API integration.
  • Demonstrated skill in driving continuous improvement through automation, optimization, and developer experience enhancements.
  • Proficiency in DevOps, CI/CD practices, and ensuring system observability, resilience, and performance.
  • Excellent collaboration and mentorship capabilities to foster engineering excellence and cross-team alignment.
  • Sound technical judgment with adaptability to evolving technologies and business needs.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
