Job Description
Join Walmart as a Distinguished Software Engineer to lead the design and development of scalable, cloud-native AI-powered systems. This role requires translating strategic objectives into reliable, extensible software solutions while driving operational excellence through technical leadership and mentorship. You will oversee the full software development lifecycle, ensuring high-quality delivery, system resilience, and continuous improvement. Collaborating across teams, you will influence architectural decisions, optimize platform performance, and foster innovation to support Walmart’s commitment to excellence and customer-focused technology solutions. The LocalFinds team at Walmart develops a platform enabling third-party local sellers to provide same-day pickup and local delivery for Walmart.com customers. Focused on a seamless proximity-based shopping experience, the team delivers advanced features for order fulfillment, returns, and dispute resolution to build customer trust. Emphasizing technical excellence, collaboration, and innovation, the team drives scalable, cloud-native solutions integrating AI technologies. They align engineering efforts with business goals and operational priorities to enhance the overall customer experience while fostering continuous development and mentorship within a high-performing environment.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Extensive experience in designing and delivering scalable, cloud-native software systems with AI integration.
- Proven ability to lead system-level technical execution, ensuring architectural integrity and operational excellence.
- Strong expertise in software development lifecycle, DevOps, CI/CD, and maintaining resilient, observable services.
- Demonstrated skills in mentoring engineers and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation.
- Proficient in problem solving, debugging, and driving technical decisions aligned with business goals.
- Effective collaborator with excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Commitment to high standards in software security, reliability engineering, and platform design.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 6 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
- OR 8 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 4 years' experience in software engineering or related area.
- Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
- Knowledge of accessibility best practices and joining us as we continue to create accessible products and services following Walmart’s accessibility standards and guidelines for supporting an inclusive culture.
