Key Highlights
- Performing professional architectural, engineering, and scientific work relating to the form, strength, and performance of marine structures
- Conducting detailed Structural Analyses and Finite Element Analyses (FEA) to evaluate vessel hull integrity and operational safety
- Developing technical reports and calculations for Weight and Moment, Stability, and Inclining Experiments
- Executing Hydrostatics and Intact and Damage stability assessments to ensure vessel compliance with maritime standards
- Managing arrangements for Hull and Deck outfitting, as well as conducting Mooring Studies and Vibration Analyses
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Applied Mechanics or a related field
- 5+ years of experience with specialized vessels in one or more of the following areas: Expeditionary Fast Transport Vessels (T-EPF), Hospital Ships (T-AH), Dry Cargo/Ammunition Ships (T-AKE), Underway Replenishment Oilers (T-AO), Cable Laying/Repair (T-ARC), Rescue/Salvage Ships (T-ARS), Submarine Tender (T-AS), Fleet Ocean Tugs (T-ATF), Command Ship (LCC), Expeditionary Mobile Base (T-ESB), Fast Combat Support Vessels (T-AOE) or like vessels
- Experience with vessel stability calculations, mooring analysis, towing plans, ship salvage, and dry-docking operations
- Expertise in complex hull structures, arrangements, outfitting, and structural analysis
- Experience performing finite element analysis (FEA) and closed-form solutions for maritime applications
- Experience with Optimoor and FEMAP/ANSYS (or similar software), MathCAD, Adobe Pro, AutoCAD, and MS Office Suite
- Experience supporting Military Sealift Command (MSC) or similar naval engineering environments
- Self-starter with excellent people skills – able to work across teams, organize meetings/boards, and drive change throughout an organization
- Must be able to remain in a stationary position 50% of the time.
- Needs to occasionally move about inside the office to access file cabinets, climb ladder wells on vessels, etc.
- Frequently communicates with co-workers, management, and customers, which may involve delivering presentations attending meetings.
- Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
