Job Description
AFS Group is hiring a Software Engineer to assist in building a proprietary ERP as well as extend and maintain the systems that run our business — Shopify Plus, RFMS, Zoho CRM, Constellation, Vercel/Next.js, and our PHP integration stack. You’ll partner directly with our Lead Developer on integrations, internal tooling, and the data flows that connect our commerce, ERP, and CRM platforms. This is hands-on engineering with real production stakes, clear ownership, and meaningful business impact.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- TypeScript and Node.js: production experience with async patterns, typed error handling, and a strict no-any posture
- React + Next.js (App Router): clear understanding of Server vs. Client Components and where secrets are allowed to live
- REST API integration: building consumers, handling webhooks, and implementing OAuth 2.0 flows (refresh token lifecycle, secure storage)
- SQL fluency: read schema, write joins across multiple tables, and reason about indexes
- Resilience patterns: working knowledge of idempotency keys, retry with exponential backoff, and circuit breaker behavior
- Git/GitHub discipline: trunk-based development, PR gates, short-lived branches, CI on lint, type-check, test, and build
- Testing discipline: tests as a deliverable, not a retroactive cleanup task — Vitest, React Testing Library, MSW, and Playwright are in active use
- Documentation discipline: tribal knowledge gets written down; documentation is produced alongside code
- Claude Code or similar AI developer tooling fluency as an accelerant
Preferred Qualifications
- PHP maintenance experience (cron-driven integration code, queue workers, concurrency safeguards)
- Python for data engineering or AI pipeline work
- C# / .NET familiarity (RFMS-adjacent ecosystem)
- Hands-on experience with Shopify Admin API, Zoho CRM (v6/v7), RFMS, Microsoft Entra/MSAL, or Absorb LMS
- Vercel deployments, Upstash Redis / KV-based state, and Sentry error monitoring
- AWS foundations (S3, IAM, VPC) and IaC exposure (CloudFormation or Terraform)
