Job Description

As a Senior Software Engineer at Walmart, you will lead the delivery of scalable, secure software solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams. You will drive the full software development lifecycle, including design, coding, testing, and deployment, while integrating advanced AI/ML components to enhance platform capabilities. This role demands strong technical judgment, continuous improvement, and proactive problem-solving to meet business objectives. You will mentor peers, contribute to innovation, and ensure high-quality outcomes that align with Walmart’s standards, supporting a culture of engineering excellence and operational reliability. Immigration Sponsorship support will NOT be available for this position. The Customer Engagement Services Technology Engineering team manages Walmart’s Contact Center platforms by delivering scalable, reliable software solutions that enhance customer interactions. The team emphasizes iterative development, continuous integration, and technical expertise to design, develop, and maintain high-quality components aligned with business and technical goals. Collaborating closely, members focus on problem-solving and innovation in platform design and delivery. This team supports Walmart’s commitment to operational excellence and exceptional customer service by ensuring seamless platform performance and driving advancements in software development practices.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Proven expertise in object-oriented programming using Java and Spring Boot, with strong documentation-driven development and software engineering best practices.
  • Strong experience delivering scalable features and microservices through collaborative engineering teams using React, TypeScript, SQL databases, and cloud-native architectures.
  • Proficiency in debugging, code review, and continuous development within CI/CD environments utilizing Git, Jenkins, Docker, Kubernetes, and automated testing frameworks.
  • Ability to design secure, scalable, and maintainable distributed systems leveraging Spring Boot, REST APIs, Apache Kafka, SQL/NoSQL databases, and cloud platforms such as AWS or Azure.
  • Skilled in integrating AI/ML components and leveraging generative AI technologies to enhance application development, automation, and operational efficiency.
  • Demonstrated problem-solving skills and technical judgment in high-performance networking environments involving TCP/IP, UDP, real-time messaging, and event-driven architectures.
  • Effective collaboration and communication with cross-functional teams, including software engineers, network engineers, product owners, and telecommunications stakeholders.
  • Commitment to engineering excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement while supporting telecommunications platforms, OSS/BSS systems, SIP/Diameter integrations, and 4G/5G network technologies.
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Background in creating inclusive digital experiences, demonstrating knowledge in implementing Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standards, assistive technologies, and integrating digital accessibility seamlessly.
