Key Highlights
- Lead the Flying Qualities team, performing engineering and technical activities in the areas of rotorcraft Flying Qualities, Stability and Control, and Flight Controls design, wind tunnel and flight testing.
- Develop and execute integrated departmental plans, policies and procedures and provide input on departmental business and technical strategies, goals, objectives.
- Acquire resources for department activities, provides technical management of suppliers and leads process improvements.
- Develop and maintain relationships and partnerships with customers, stakeholders, peers, partners and direct reports.
- Provide oversight and approval of technical approaches, products and processes. Manage, develop and motivate employees.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor of Science Degree or higher in a relevant field of Engineering (Mechanical/Aerospace)
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in rotorcraft flying qualities or rotorcraft flight controls is required.
- External candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience).
- Internal candidates must have at least one year of experience in a leadership role (team leader, temp manager, large scale cross functional project/program management, or formal manager experience) OR have completed the Boeing internal course “Exploring Leadership”.
- Knowledge of rotorcraft stability & control and handling qualities.
- Knowledge of rotorcraft control laws requirements, design, analysis and testing.
- Knowledge of flight simulation modeling and tool development.
- Knowledge of developing and maintaining flight simulation and integration laboratories.
- Knowledge of wind tunnel and flight testing of rotorcraft.
- In depth knowledge of capabilities, practices and resources of US DoD engineering organizations such as NAVAIR, SRD and TDD.
- Experience leading engineering teams.
- Experience leading teams who are distributed across multiple locations.
- Knowledge of program management best practices; Knowledge of estimating and management tools including earned value reporting systems and risk management; Knowledge of proposal preparation processes.
- Formal leadership training
